SVG to PNG Transformation FAQ
How do I convert SVG to PNG without losing image quality?
+
Upload your SVG file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for PNG. For lossless PNG (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy PNG (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. An SVG stores shapes as mathematical paths and text as text, not as pixels, so it is a document rather than a raster grid. PNG uses DEFLATE compression over filtered scanlines, so every pixel survives exactly, plus a full 8-bit alpha channel.
How does text inside the SVG behave?
+
In an SVG, text is real text — selectable, searchable and re-styleable, and it needs the font to be available or embedded to render as intended. Converting away from SVG turns that text into pixels or into document text depending on the target; converting towards SVG only produces real text if the source had a text layer to begin with.
Does SVG to PNG conversion preserve transparency?
+
Transparency survives when PNG is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware PNG instead of PNG=JPG. PNG was designed in 1996 as a patent-free replacement for GIF, and became the web’s default lossless image format.
What about EXIF metadata when converting SVG to PNG?
+
In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the PNG. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Can I batch-convert many SVG files to PNG at once?
+
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
What resolution will my PNG file have?
+
Default is 1:1 — your PNG keeps the pixel dimensions of the source SVG. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.
Are my SVG files private during conversion?
+
Yes. Uploaded SVG files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PNG are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
Why is my converted PNG bigger or smaller than I expected?
+
An SVG with strong existing compression (lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to lossless PNG (PNG, TIFF). A lossless SVG often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG / WebP. The ratio depends on image content — photos compress differently from line art. SVG cannot represent a photograph — tracing one produces either a crude approximation or a file larger than the original raster. PNG is a poor photograph format: a photo saved as PNG is routinely five to ten times larger than the same image as JPG or WebP.
