PSD to SVG Transformation FAQ

How do I convert PSD to SVG without losing image quality?
+
Upload your PSD file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for SVG. For lossless SVG (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy SVG (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements. An SVG stores shapes as mathematical paths and text as text, not as pixels, so it is a document rather than a raster grid.
Only up to a point, and it is worth setting expectations first. Tracing turns pixel regions into paths, which works well for logos, line art and flat-colour graphics with clear boundaries. A photograph has no such boundaries, so the trace yields either a crude posterised approximation or an SVG with tens of thousands of paths that is larger and slower to render than the original. SVG cannot represent a photograph — tracing one produces either a crude approximation or a file larger than the original raster.
They are flattened, permanently, into one composited image. Blend modes, masks, adjustment layers and editable text are all resolved into final pixels because SVG has no structure to hold them. Keep the PSD as the working master and treat the SVG strictly as an export. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised.
It is converted to sRGB, because SVG has no CMYK mode. For screen use that is exactly what you want. For commercial print it is not — the gamut shift changes how saturated colours reproduce on press, so send the printer the original PSD rather than the SVG.
In an SVG, text is real text — selectable, searchable and re-styleable, and it needs the font to be available or embedded to render as intended. Converting away from SVG turns that text into pixels or into document text depending on the target; converting towards SVG only produces real text if the source had a text layer to begin with.
Transparency survives when SVG is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware SVG instead of SVG=JPG. SVG is the W3C’s XML-based vector format, a recommendation since 2001 and now native to every browser.
In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the SVG. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Default is 1:1 — your SVG keeps the pixel dimensions of the source PSD. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.

PSD

PSD (Photoshop Document) is the native file format for Adobe Photoshop. PSD files store layered images, allowing for non-destructive editing and protecting design elements. They are crucial for cinema-grade graphic design and photo manipulation.

SVG

SVG files contain vector graphics that scale perfectly to any size without losing integrity.
