How do I convert PNG to PSD without losing image quality?

Upload your PNG file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for PSD. For lossless PSD (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy PSD (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. PNG uses DEFLATE compression over filtered scanlines, so every pixel survives exactly, plus a full 8-bit alpha channel. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements.

Does PNG to PSD conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when PSD is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware PSD instead of PSD=JPG. PSD is Adobe Photoshop’s native document, and it is a working file rather than a delivery format.

What about EXIF metadata when converting PNG to PSD?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the PSD. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.

Can I batch-convert many PNG files to PSD at once?

What resolution will my PSD file have?

Default is 1:1 — your PSD keeps the pixel dimensions of the source PNG. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.

Are my PNG files private during conversion?

Yes. Uploaded PNG files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PSD are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.

Why is my converted PSD bigger or smaller than I expected?

A PNG with strong existing compression (lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to lossless PSD (PNG, TIFF). A lossless PNG often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG / WebP. The ratio depends on image content — photos compress differently from line art. PNG is a poor photograph format: a photo saved as PNG is routinely five to ten times larger than the same image as JPG or WebP. PSD is huge, opens properly in almost nothing outside Adobe, and has to be flattened before anyone can view or print it.

Can I use the converted PSD commercially?

Yes. The conversion is a format change — copyright on the image content stays with you (or whoever held it on the source PNG). We add no watermark, no metadata stamp, and claim no licence over the PSD output.
