Markdown to DOC Transformation FAQ

Is the Markdown to DOC converter free?
+
Yes. One conversion an hour is free, with no account needed, for a file within the free size limit. A paid plan removes the hourly limit and the size limit, and lets you add several files to one job.
It will look plain, because there is nothing to recover. A Markdown carries no styling information, so the converter applies a clean default — a readable body font, sensible margins, paragraphs separated where blank lines were. Headings are inferred where the source used a recognisable convention, and everything else arrives as body text. Markdown is the same syntax as .md, spelled out in full — some editors and static site generators expect the long extension.
It opens everywhere, but it is a compatibility choice rather than a good one. The binary formats predate the XML packages, carry macro payloads that many mail servers strip on sight, and are being steadily deprecated by Microsoft itself. Use them when a specific piece of old software demands them, and the XML format otherwise. DOC is undocumented in practice, opaque to modern tooling, and Microsoft itself has been trying to retire it since 2007.
Free conversions have a size limit per file, set by the type of file, and the page tells you when a file is over it. A paid plan removes that limit, so much larger files can be converted.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses standard `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependency — so even older browsers work to upload a Markdown and download the DOC.
Yes. Uploaded Markdown files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted DOC are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy. The long form is what Jekyll, Hugo and several documentation pipelines look for by default, so it fits straight into those builds.
Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network drops mid-download you can retry from the result page without re-uploading the Markdown.
It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame. DOC is still the format a great many corporate templates, legal precedents and government forms are stored in.

Markdown

Markdown is plain text with lightweight punctuation for headings, links, and lists, readable before it is ever rendered.

DOC

DOC files are Microsoft Word files that accommodate rich text formatting, images, and tables.
