Is the PDF side of this conversion searchable?

It depends entirely on whether real text is present. A PDF generated from a document carries an actual text layer and is searchable; a PDF built from scans or images is a picture of text and is not, until OCR adds a layer. /pdf-ocr/ does that, and it is worth running before any conversion that expects to read the words.

What ends up inside the ZIP?

Will conversion change the content of my PDF?

Conversion preserves all information that both PDF and ZIP can represent. Format-specific features the ZIP cannot represent (e.g. vector data in raster output, formulas in plain-text output) are rasterized or stripped — the result page lists what changed. A PDF describes a page with PostScript-derived drawing operators, embedded fonts and embedded images, so the layout is pinned rather than reflowed. ZIP compresses each file separately with DEFLATE and stores a central directory, so individual members can be extracted without unpacking everything.

Can I convert many PDF files to ZIP at once?

Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network drops mid-download you can retry from the result page without re-uploading the PDF.

How long does PDF to ZIP conversion take?

Typically seconds for small files, a minute or two for files near the size cap. The server-side pipeline runs on dedicated workers — your laptop CPU is not the bottleneck and a slow phone uploads at exactly the same conversion speed as a fast desktop.
