How do I convert WebP to PDF for sharing and printing?

What if the source is a scan with no real text in it?

Then the conversion produces a picture of the text rather than the text itself, and searching it finds nothing. Run /pdf-ocr/ to add a recognised text layer first; optical character recognition turns the scanned pixels into selectable, searchable characters that the conversion can then carry through properly.
What happens to transparent areas of my WebP in the PDF?

They are composited against the page, which is white by default, so a transparent background becomes a white one. If the image is meant to sit on a coloured page, set the matte colour before converting rather than trying to fix it afterwards in the document.
Is camera and location metadata carried into the PDF?

EXIF travels with the embedded image data, which means GPS coordinates can end up inside a document you intend to publish. Use the strip-metadata option during conversion if the PDF is going anywhere public — once it is embedded it is no longer obvious that it is there.
Is the PDF side of this conversion searchable?

It depends entirely on whether real text is present. A PDF generated from a document carries an actual text layer and is searchable; a PDF built from scans or images is a picture of text and is not, until OCR adds a layer. /pdf-ocr/ does that, and it is worth running before any conversion that expects to read the words.
Will the WebP to PDF conversion keep my fonts and formatting?

Yes for text-bearing WebP (DOCX, ODT, HTML, TXT) — fonts are embedded into the PDF so the output looks identical on every viewer. Image-only WebP (JPG, PNG) is centered on the page; text-layout is N/A there.
Can I merge multiple WebP files into one PDF?

What page size and orientation will the PDF use?

Can I password-protect the PDF after conversion?

Not in this tool directly — convert WebP to PDF first, then use the /pdf-* tools to add a password, watermark, or restrict editing / printing permissions on the output.
How big will the PDF file be?

Depends on the WebP content. A 10-page DOCX with embedded fonts produces a 200-400 KB PDF. A 10-image JPG batch at full resolution produces a 5-20 MB PDF. The advanced "compress images in PDF" toggle recompresses embedded images at JPG quality-85.
